Show live weather conditions and a multi-day forecast on your screens, useful for lobbies, retail windows, and transit displays where viewers check the forecast at a glance. This guide walks through creating the app, choosing a theme, and picking a layout that fits your screen.
1

Open Apps

Log in to your Pickcel account. Go to the Apps module.
Open Apps
2

Search for and create the app

Search for Weather using the search field.
Search for Weather app
Click the Weather app card, then click Create App in the app details panel.
Click Create App
3

Enter app name

Enter a Name for the app, such as “Lobby Weather - New York”. This is how you’ll identify it later in the Media section, especially useful if you plan to create weather apps for more than one location.
Enter app name
4

Set the location

Type a city into Location and pick it from the suggestions. Start typing and select the matching result from the dropdown.
Set location for the Weather app
Toggle Get device location on instead if you want the app to always show weather for wherever the signage player is installed, useful for a template used across screens in different cities. When enabled, the manual Location field is skipped.
5

Select a theme

Choose a Theme based on how you want the forecast to look. Expand each option to preview it before deciding.
Standard theme
Classic theme
Minimalist with Grey Background theme
Minimalist with Colourful Background theme
Advanced theme
The Advanced theme’s preview panel shows sample placeholder data (a “Mount Everest” demo card) instead of your configured location. This is expected. The live app pulls the correct location once published.
6

Configure display options

Pick the Temperature Unit (Celsius or Fahrenheit), then toggle Forecast on to show the multi-day outlook alongside current conditions. Toggle Rounded Corners for softer card edges, and Animation if you want the icons and text to animate in (available on all themes except Standard). Select a Language for the display text.
Configure temperature unit, forecast, rounded corners, and animation
7

Choose a layout type

Pick the Layout Type that matches your screen.
Landscape layout type
8

Create the app

Click Preview to double check how the app will look, then click Create App to save it.
Click Create App
Your weather app is now ready to use.
