# How to create a screensaver playlist in Pickcel Comms?

> Build looping image and video playlists for the Pickcel Comms Screensaver channel: add media, set durations and display mode, reorder, preview, and set a default playlist.

A playlist is an ordered set of images and videos that loops on the **Screensaver** channel. Upload files to [Media](/comms/media) first.

## Create a playlist

  <Step title="Open the editor">
    Go to **Playlist** → **Create Playlist**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name the playlist">
    Enter a **Playlist Name** (for example, *Morning Screensaver*).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add media">
    * In **Media Library**, search or filter by **Image** / **Video**.
    * Hover a file and click **Add**. It's added to **Playlist Items** on the right.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set duration">
    * Use **−** / **+** or type a value (seconds, minimum 1).
    * Images default to 10s. Videos default to their full length and can only be shortened.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set display mode (optional)">
    Click the pencil icon on an item and choose:

    * **Fit to Screen** (default): fills the screen, cropping edges if needed.
    * **Maintain Aspect Ratio**: shows the whole image or video, with bars if needed.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Reorder and remove">
    * Drag the handle to change the play order.
    * Click **×** to remove an item.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Preview and save">
    * **Preview** plays the playlist full screen.
    * Click **Save Playlist**.

## Manage playlists

From the **⋯** menu on a playlist:

| Action              | What it does                                                                                           |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **View**            | Preview, item list, total duration, whether it's the default, which campaigns use it, tags, audit info |
| **Edit**            | Reopens the editor                                                                                     |
| **Create Campaign** | Opens the campaign wizard                                                                              |
| **Assign Default**  | Makes this the default screensaver playlist                                                            |
| **Delete**          | Deletes the playlist after you confirm                                                                 |

## Default playlist

* The default playlist is the screensaver new screens get, and what screens go back to when a campaign's **Screensaver End Date** passes.
* Set it with **Set as default** in the editor, **Assign Default** in the list, or **Settings** → **Company** → **Default Screensaver**.
* Only one playlist is the default at a time.
